Picturesque Preston Castle, a California Historic Landmark in Amador County, is deteriorating and an effort is underway to restore it to its original architectural grandeur. Jazz pianist Dave Brubeck returns to his roots in Northern California to help save this prominent structure in his former hometown of Ione. A musical legend, Brubeck has released over 100 jazz albums and soundtracks. His original music underscores his tour of Preston Castle and an interview with KVIE’s Bette Vasquez reveals a rich and diverse history of the castle replete with stories of adventure, heartache, melancholy and survival.
